Naming the Journey is a new blog about naming life. We have no means to discuss anything unless we first name it. To be created is to be named. Adam and Eve were named and then given the awesome, adventurous task to name their world. And so creating after their Creator, they named the animals. And perhaps they named the trees and plants, the rivers and rocks, the stars and planets; everything in their visible world. Following their example, we name the world we live in, and in so doing, we find our own names written and continually unfolding.

So I'll name myself for any wonderful readers that may decide to come along for the journey. My name is Terri Fisher. I live in a state named Texas, in a city named Austin. I am named: Wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, artist, writer, friend, teacher, adopted child, daughter of the King, and so many more. Naming helps us understand our world and the place we hold in it. So I might talk about sperm donors or gene splicing, our food chain or chicken's brooding habits, igneous rocks or pine trees, art or the colors red, brown and purple, whiskey or wine, movies, music, and always and forever... books.

Welcome.
